Monmouth & Monmouth School

I was educated at Monmouth School from 1971 to 1977, hence my interest in Monmouth. This is a page of links to other Monmouth sites.

Monmouth School is a boys public school founded in 1614 by William Jones, a member of the Haberdashers' Company. It has a sister school, Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls.
The School's official site is at www.habs-monmouth.org
For more information on the schools, see the ISIS (Independent Schools Information Service) pages for the Boys School or the Girls School

I attended The Grange, the preparatory school attached to Monmouth School, from 1967 to 1971. I moved to the senior school in 1971 and left in 1977. I started as a day boy in Hereford House and began boarding in Weirhead House in 1974. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at school and think that I have turned out a reasonably rounded person. It seems that the school continues to improve. Accordingly, I would recommend Monmouth as a school to anyone considering a public school education.

Monmouth is an exceptionally picturesque market town in Gwent, Wales. In former days it used to be the county town of the old county of Monmouthshire and was the birthplace of Henry V. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Wye and Monnow. Amongst the sites of the town is the old Norman Monnow Bridge; for some reason I no longer remember it also boasts a museum dedicated to Admiral Nelson. Monmouth is situated in the Wye Valley and borders the Forest of Dean. For further information, try out the following link:-
